Lessons
Riding lessons for younger children (from 3 yrs old). Lessons are mostly lead rein for the children’s optimal safety. These young riders do a variety of specially designed exercises that improve balance, stability and core strength. This is achieved through repetitive play. Lessons include time for brushing the ponies, leading them around and learning about pony care.
Pony Tots
Children's Lessons
Once children are about 5 yrs and confident enough they can progress to the full riding lesson classes. Private and group classes are offered to ensure the optimal progression for the child’s abilities. Group classes are kept small with a maximum of 6 children per group. Children of similar ages and abilities are combined in a group. Riding lessons include Dressage, Jumping, Utility, Vaulting and outrides.
Horse riding is wonderful exercise and de stressor. Take the opportunity to experience a small haven of peace in your hectic week that includes an active body workout.
We have some wonderful horses for adults to learn at any level. Beginner riders can learn on safe horses that will give you confidence. More advanced riders will have the opportunity to ride well trained competitive horses.
Karen specializes in correct biomechanic body position (through the Ride With Your Mind training) and horse behaviour and training through the Monty Roberts training. Her main discipline of riding is Dressage and we have horses trained to Elementary dressage available for lessons.
Adult Lessons
Randjesfontein boasts 30kms of conservancy horse trails in a peaceful country atmosphere within a secure boomed Estate. The exhilaration of cantering up a hill offers a different riding experience for the adventurous spirit. We also offer family outrides and weekend picnic rides.
Outrides
We offer pony camps every school holidays (private and government). We do half day camps for younger children from the age of 3 and full day camps with sleepover optional from the age of 8. Children have the chance to experience a whole day at a stable yard. They assist in feeding, cleaning and brushing horses. They learn theory about how a horse thinks and how to train horses. Your children will return home tired and dirty after a busy day having fun outdoors.
Pony Camps
Capriole Stables offers pony parties at our stable yard or your venue. We can even offer extra pony activities such as gymkhana games, outrides, treasure hunts and horse shoe painting. Ponies are available for hire at a variety of functions. They can be used at Markets, school fetes and sports days. Basically, any event where children can be entertained for hours on end.
Parties & Functions
Half Bait
Children that are starting to get more enthusiastic and committed about their horse riding have the option of half baiting a pony. They then get to share the pony / horse and have the use of it 3 days a week. They can then form a bond with their special pony. They are also then able to compete more seriously and take part in Interschools. We have a super collection of ponies or horses available.
Shows
There are a number of different opportunities to compete at shows from Capriole stables. Beginner riders are able to compete at training shows and can even start on lead rein. Training shows are a fun family outing and Capriole stables attends one just about every month.
For the more serious riders they can start competing at Inter schools. Capriole stables competes at the Gauteng Metro, Tswane and Ekurhuleni inter school events. We are very proud that in 2015 and 2016 we had 6 children that qualified for the Inter regionals and received regional colours and one child each year that made it through to the National Finals.
